Maritza Travanti, President of the Monrovia Unified School District Board of Education, combines decades of executive leadership with a deep commitment to student success. First elected in 2018 to represent Trustee Area 5, she is recognized for her fiscal responsibility and student-centered approach. Maritza recently concluded a 35-year career at the IRS, where she served as Chief of Operations and Program Support, managing complex strategic initiatives for a major federal agency.
As the mother of a 2024 Monrovia High School graduate, Maritza understands firsthand the transformative power of public education. Her dedication to the district began long before her election, serving in various volunteer roles including School Site Council Chair and PTA Auditor. These experiences solidified her belief in the vital connection between families, educators, and the community.
Active in the Monrovia Rotary Club and bilingual in English and Spanish, Maritza leads with transparency and accountability. She remains focused on fostering academic excellence and ensuring that every student in Monrovia has the resources and opportunities to thrive in college, career and beyond. Her vision is a district shaped by integrity and measured by the success of our future generations.
